Nashville: An elementary school shooting kills 3 children and 3 adults

Former student, 28, armed with two assault rifles and a handgun, kills six in Nashville school massacre: Three children and three adults are shot at Christian Elementary — as shocking photos show terrified students fleeing.

The shooting occurred Monday at Covenant School in Nashville.

Nashville Metropolitan Police officers shot the attackers at the scene.

Six people - including three children - have died after a shooting at a Nashville private school.

The incident happened at Covenant School, an elementary school on the outskirts of town.

Police say the shooter - who has not yet been named - killed three children and three adults before killing police. Her identity has yet to be confirmed, but police initially said they believed she was a teenager.

It is unclear what her motive was, but police believe she attended the school at some point.

Later, they confirmed that she was 28 years old. The school chapel operates and does not use a school resource officer.

Shortly before 10.13 am, the woman entered the school through a side door and began opening fire on the second floor.

It is still being determined how she gained access to the building. Police say all the doors were locked.

Police arrived at the scene and heard shots coming from the second floor. By 10:27 am, she was shot. She is armed with two assault rifles and a revolver.
