Fairfax police warn of fake parking tickets

The police tell anyone who receives the fake notification not to be alarmed and throw it away.

Fairfax City Police are warning people about fake parking tickets after several people in the area told officers they had received the violations. In a tweet Thursday, the Police Department shared a photo of the fake parking violation notices.

The fake notices appear to tell the driver that they have parked on a street that requires a parking permit.

The fake notice reads, "This is your second warning since the Fairfax parking zoning rezoning on February 1, 2021."

The newspaper includes a phone number that police say is requesting credit card information.

The police tell anyone who receives the fake notification not to be alarmed and throw it away.

"The police department is aware of this and if you have this exact document on your car, you can get rid of it," the police department said on Twitter.
