Searching for the Suspect Targets Victims Near Banks
WASHINGTON - D.C. Police are searching for a burglary suspect accused of walking up to people, snatching their belongings, and fleeing.
Investigators want your help in arresting the suspect.
The first robbery occurred at 14 NW Street on May 24 around 1:30 p.m.
Surveillance cameras captured the accused committing the crime.
Investigators told FOX 5 that the defendant walked up behind a woman who had just left a bank, grabbed her iPhone while talking on it, and took a bank card and $500 in cash before quickly running away.
The next day, in the second robbery, a man withdrew money from an ATM on Monroe Street Northwest.
The police department believes the same suspect approached the man, kidnapped $900 in cash, and then fled.
None of the people who were robbed were injured.
Call the police if you recognize the suspect. The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
