Police report: 25 Honda cars were stolen between Thursday and Friday last week
25 vehicles were damaged during the recent theft incidents
Thieves destroyed 25 cars in several North Arlington neighborhoods over the past few days. This is according to a crime report the Arlington County Sheriff's Department released on Monday.
The first robbery spree occurred last week, overnight Thursday through Friday, in the Waverly Hills neighborhood, not far from the intersection of N. Glebe Road and Langston Blvd.
Police said thieves damaged five cars while stealing windows from the side mirrors.
Block of 20th Road N. At approximately 9:57 am on May 19, police were dispatched for a late report of a motor vehicle theft. On arrival, it was set between 10:00 pm approx. On May 18 and 7:30 am on May 19, the unidentified suspect(s) stole a glass from four vehicles' side mirrors and damaged the rear mirror glass of a fifth vehicle. No other damaged or stolen items have been reported. No description (suspects); the investigation is ongoing.
An even larger rush was reported over the weekend in and around Rosslyn, with about 20 Hondas being broken into and their airbags are stolen.
From the crime report:
At approximately 12:44 am on May 21, police were dispatched to tamper with a vehicle. Upon arrival, the reporting party was found to have observed three men in their twenties breaking into the cars. When I shouted, they fled the scene in a gray van. During the investigation, approximately 20 vehicles were identified parked at Radnor/Ft. The Myer Heights, Rosslyn, and Colonial Village neighborhoods had windows smashed and airbags stolen. The cars in question are Honda models.
In recent memory, thieves targeted Hondas parked in Arlington for airbag theft, including in March and 22.
