Nearly 750 border-crossers have died this year, with the crisis showing no signs of slowing down.

Migrants face dangerous conditions on their journey north to the border and can often suffer from heat, drowning, crime, or falling off the border wall.

Since October 1, the start of the fiscal year, there have been 748 deaths

Nearly 750 immigrants who tried to cross the southern border have died this year, according to Department of Homeland Security 

In the fiscal year 2021, there were 557 deaths on the southwest border

The number of deaths on the southern border has been rising for years 

Arrests on the southern border reached an all-time high of 2 million people in fiscal 2022 as of August.

Immigration returned to the political front after Texas Governor Greg Abbott began busing immigrants to liberal cities like Washington, D.C., and New York.  D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser request the National Guard's help to deal with the influx of migrants, calling it a "humanitarian crisis."

New York City Mayor Eric Adams echoed that sentiment, asking for help to deal with the influx of immigrants into his city.

In July, there were nearly 200,000 fights, a decrease for the second month after four months of increases that peaked in May with 241,116 conflicts recorded.
