Hospitals in the US are turning to foreign nurses as health care workers are fired due to vaccine mandates

Understaffed hospitals across the country are turning to international nurses to fill the staffing shortage as thousands of healthcare workers are cut short for not being offered a coronavirus vaccine.

Officials at the Billings Clinic in Montana have contracts with more than two dozen international nurses and are one of "dozens" of hospitals across the country bringing in nurses from other states to address employment issues, including retirement, NPR reports.

Weeks after Minnesota nurses warn of staff crisis, Mayo clinic burns 700 uninfected workers.

The report states a backlog of more than 5,000 international nurses waiting from Ghana, Thailand, and the Philippines to get approval for a visa to work in US hospitals.

"We are seeing an absolute boom in international nurse applications," said Leslie Hamilton Powers, AAIHR Board Member and Vice President of Avant Healthcare Professionals in Florida.

Unmasked Rhode Island nurses pay off new hospital policy: 'We've given up on common sense.'

The push for more international nurses comes as thousands of nurses and health care workers across the country are losing their jobs in hospitals due to the coronavirus vaccine requirements.

Mayo Clinic in Minnesota recently fired 700 unvaccinated employees who had not had coronavirus vaccines. More than 500 health care workers in Massachusetts have been fired for disobeying vaccination rules, and more than 30,000 health care workers have been fired in New York.

"We had worked hard last year," said Jennifer Bridges, a Texas nurse who was fired in November over vaccine requirements for Fox News's Sean Hannity. It wasn't very nice. And those people who are now making these rules for us and kicking us to the curb weren't there. They weren't there." They're not even in the building to be seen for months. They were staying at home while we were doing all the work."
