Virginia: A winter weather alert has been issued from snowfall tomorrow

A winter weather alert has been issued from snowfall from Thursday night to Friday

Purple shaded areas are subject to a winter weather advisory starting Thursday at 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service declared a winter weather alert for the metropolitan area expected  2 to 4 inches of snow at the end of the week.

The consultation session starts at 9 pm—Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday includes Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Fawkner, and Stafford counties.

The weather service says road conditions will be slippery and hazardous conditions may affect the Friday morning commute.

Heavy snow is expected between 10 pm and 2 a.m., with a snow potential of an inch an hour.

The area is still recovering from Monday's snowstorm, which closed 50 miles of Interstate 95 between Prince William and Caroline counties for 36 hours and left more than 150,000 without power; there are thousands of residents still without power on Wednesday.
