Police investigate after an Uber driver, and his two passengers were robbed on Sunday.

Police said they were called to 11th Street and Euclid Street NW around 3:34 a.m. The driver informed responding officers that another car had hit the rear of his vehicle. One of the passengers told the police that they were sitting at a red light at the time of the accident.

He said several people then got out of the other car and surrounded his car with the guns drawn before telling him to get out of the vehicle. He did not open the door but said the suspects entered and assaulted him several times.

The police report indicated that the driver told the police, "Everything happened quickly."

The passenger also told the police that the suspects had weapons. He said he got out of the car and ran before calling the police. He did not appear injured.

The other passenger was "incoherent" when the police arrived but said he had been mugged. The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police said $3,600 in cash and about $8,000 in diamond and gold chains were stolen.
