Biden administration officially withdraws the vaccine law

Biden administration has withdrawn a rule that would have required workers at major companies to be vaccinated or face standard Corona testing requirements.

In early November, OSHA announced a vaccine or testing mandate for companies with at least 100 employees. The rule — which would have affected more than 80 million American workers — was implemented initially on January 4.

But several states and trade groups have challenged the rule in Court. On January 13, the Supreme Court halted the plan.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has never imposed such an authorization. Nor Congress wrote the majority of the Court. "Although Congress has enacted important legislation to address the COVID-19 pandemic, it has refrained from enacting any measure similar to what the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued here."

The judges left a vaccine mandate for health care providers that receive federal funding from Medicare or Medicaid. This rule affects 10.4 million workers.

US companies are divided over whether to mandate employee vaccinations. United Airlines began ordering the vaccines in August.

But other major companies, including Starbucks and General Electric, have canceled previously announced vaccine mandates for their employees after the Supreme Court ruling.
