'I have faith in Pfizer': Former FDA chief Scott Gottlieb says the COVID vaccine could be approved for children ages 5 to 11 in late October.
Children ages 5 to 11 may be eligible for the Pfizer vaccine by the end of October.
Dr. says. Scott Gottlieb said Pfizer plans to file working papers with the feds in September.
According to Scott Gottlieb, the former head of FDA, American children ages, 5 to 11 may be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of October.
Scott Gottlieb, who headed the Food and Drug Administration under former President Donald Trump, says the approval process for the emergency use of a young child's vaccination could be done within weeks.
Gottlieb, a member of Pfizer's board of directors, says the drug giant is expected to file papers with the federal government seeking permission to vaccinate children as early as September.
"In a best-case scenario, given the schedule, they just laid out, you'll likely have a vaccine available for kids ages 5 to 11 by Halloween," Gottlieb said in an interview with CBS's Face the Nation.
If all goes well, the Pfizer data package is intact, and the FDA finally makes a favorable decision, I have confidence in Pfizer with the data they collected.
