De Blasio: Get vaccinated or get fired! after the vaccine get the full approval

Every New York City public school employee will need to be vaccinated by the end of September with no option for weekly testing.

The mayor said NYC public school employees should get the COVID-19 vaccine

The authorization comes on the same day the Food and Drug Administration gives full approval for the Pfizer vaccine.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced public school teachers and staff should be vaccinated against COVID-19.

De Blasio said Monday that the new mandate would require vaccinating teachers and staff at New York City public schools against COVID-19 for the current school year. It is the first vaccine without a vaccine option for a large group of city workers.

Public school employees should have their first dose by September 27, according to de Blasio and the city's health and education departments.

"We will do whatever to fight the delta form [and] bring back this city," de Blasio said.

The news comes from New York City after Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine received full approval Monday from the US Food and Drug Administration. It is the first vaccine to undergo the regulatory review process in the United States. New York City's mandate may be among the first expected to be a wave of licensing now that the vaccine has received Food and Drug Administration approval.
