Apple seeks to ramp up production of new iPhones for 2021

Here's the backstory

Pegasus may be one of the most famous creatures in Greek mythology, but the pure white divine horse also holds a dark secret. It was used to defeat the monstrous illusion, so it is no coincidence that it is also the name of a devastating spy tool.

Delusion tool? Prominent public figures such as journalists, royal family members, activists, politicians, and business people. The device was developed by the Israeli company NSO Group, and NSO clients allegedly used the tool to spy and hack the iPhones of at least 37 journalists.

Hack iPhones, the tool reportedly used a tactic called "zero clicks." It does not need victim interaction and can be sent via Apple's iMessage system. Back in 2018, this technology exploited several vulnerabilities in which hackers could inject code to spy on targets.

But iMessage wasn't the only iOS function exploited. According to the massive report by AI and 17 other media organizations, Apple Photos, FaceTime, and Apple Music have also been targeted.

"These attacks were most recently observed in July 2021. AI believes that Pegasus is currently being delivered through zero-click vulnerabilities that are still running through the latest available version of iOS

How does this affect you? iPhone isn't secure as you think - which is why it's essential to update your device regularly. Here's how to update both iPhone and iPad to the latest version:

Here's how to update both iPhone and iPad to the latest version:

If a software update is available, click Download and install. Once the download is complete, the update will be installed automatically. If it does not, click on the Install button.

At the time of the attacks, most of the victims were partially updated to the latest version available. It's important to note that no devices were hacked on iOS 14.5 and that Apple corrected many of the report issues in previous versions.

You may also be wrong in thinking that you are not a potential target. With enough money, determination, and willpower, everyone is a target. The recent incident may have you looking into other messaging methods, and fortunately, there are a few options.

Signal

Signal has grown in popularity over the past few months after WhatsApp announced that it would share your data with Facebook. While it has since retracted the statement, the end-to-end encrypted messaging app has attracted millions of new users.

Telegram messenger

Like Signal, Telegram has been around for some time but has recently seen an increase in new users. The communication tool contains end-to-end encrypted text, video calling, VoIP, and file sharing. Everything is also stored in the cloud, so nothing is kept on your physical device.

In addition to end-to-end encrypted messaging, and most importantly, Threema has been around since 2012. It does not require you to have a phone number, and no personally identifiable information is associated with your account.
