All 50 Republican senators vote to disapprove the $1 trillion infrastructure bill: Democrats fail to persuade ten rebels to advance in the vote - but Schumer says he'll try again.

A bipartisan group working on the bill said a version could be ready by Monday; Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell accused Schumer of "playing games" by scheduling a vote without getting the bill's final text. "This stunt," McConnell said. You will fail," he asked, "So who's playing?"

Democrats needed 10 Republican votes to push the bipartisan bill forward.

The final vote was 49 in favor of the bill and 51 against it. No Republicans voted for her, including any senators working with Democrats to agree on an infrastructure bill.

The failed vote does not eliminate the bipartisan infrastructure plan that President Joe Biden and a group of senators approved at the White House last month.

Schumer may introduce the legislation again next week. And he has said he wants to spend by the time he leaves the Senate for August recess.

Earlier today, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell accused Schumer of "playing games" by setting a date for a vote.

"Today, that Democratic leader appears to be counting on calling a vote that he knows will fail," McConnell said in remarks in the Senate. Will fail. Here we usually write bills before voting on them. This is the habit.

Republicans complained that they would not vote for a bill before it was written. The bipartisan group is negotiating the measure - which funds traditional infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and waterways - finalizing the legislation's details and how to pay for it.

Schumer defended the procedural vote in his speech on the Senate floor, noting that it was the first step in the legislative process.

This vote is not a deadline for finalizing all the details. He said it is not an attempt to confuse anyone, "To finish the bill, we first have to get started," he added.
