After winning a $10 million lottery, he was sentenced to life in prison

A  man who won a $10 million lottery prize in 2017 in North Carolina was sentenced to life in prison in the fatal 2020 shooting of his girlfriend.

The News & Observer reported that Michael Todd Hill, 54, of Leyland, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced Friday for the murder of 23-year-old Keonna Graham of Navassa. Graham's disappearance was reported on July 20, 2020. She was found dead in a hotel with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

In a news release from North Carolina's 15th Prosecuting Service, prosecutors said Hill was the only person in the room with Graham. They told Hill later confessed to shooting Graham after texting other men while she was at the hotel.

WECT-TV reported that Hill won $10 million from a scratch ticket in August 2017.
