Proposed residential development of Blue Mountain Ashburn Nursery property

Proposed residential development of Blue Mountain Ashburn Nursery property

A significant homebuilder proposes building a new community in Ashburn, where the famous Blue Mount Garden Nursery Center is located near Route 7. That's according to a filing with the Loudoun County Planning and Zoning Office.

The planned community currently has the colorful name Dogwood Farm Station and will consist of 485 multi-family units, including 100 units considered affordable housing for the county's low-income residents. The developer is US Home Corporation.

According to the report, the properties to be developed will include the prominent Blue Mount nursery place, which is just over 15 acres, and a nearby plot of land just under four acres. Real estate will need to be rezoned from A-3 (agricultural and low-density residential) to R-24, allowing for multi-family development. This request is pending.

The property is located near the soon-to-be-expanded Riverside Parkway. The road connects to Loudoun County Parkway and will provide an alternative to Route 7 that runs to Leesburg.
