The Department of Veterans Affairs commissions the vaccine
Veterans Affairs Secretary Dennis McDonough announced Monday that COVID-19 vaccinations would be mandatory for the department's health care employees.
The department said four VA employees, all of whom were not vaccinated, have died in recent weeks. At least three of those cases were associated with a delta variant.
Department of Veterans Affairs employees will have eight weeks for a complete vaccination.
McDonough said this mandate is "the best way to keep veterans safe, especially as the delta variant is spreading across the country."
